Job Title: CREDIT OFFICER - Food and agriculture portfolio

Permanent Position (KP04131-O6)

Location: Oakville, Ontario Industry: Financial services
Salary: $ 60 000 and more / year + benefits Starting date: Immediate

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Reporting directly to the Director of Credit, the Credit Officer will work in conjunction with the Sales Coordinators and other credit officers to evaluate individual credit requests for wholesale dealers/retail dealers; partners and new vendor relationships, while working with clients, partners and field personnel in the attainment of credit
 
NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
The candidate will be responsible for making credit decisions within the authorized credit limit, and preparing supporting information as necessary for transactions exceeding the authorized credit limit. This will include communicating with Sales Coordinators and Business Development Managers regarding credit applications and decisions. The candidate will also be responsible for credit reporting and any other projects as assigned.

• Maintain general knowledge and loan programs to provide written and verbal information to customers and partners.
• Develop a thorough working knowledge and understanding of the wholesale inventory finance analysis and receivable computer systems to facilitate the daily loan transaction process.
• Enter data and ensure accuracy in the spreading of financial statements, including commercial credits.
• Analyze and approve credit within delegated authority.
• Make credit recommendations to appropriate Credit Manager on transactions whose indebtedness exceeds delegated authority.
• Assist with ongoing development of Policy and Procedures as well as organizing information into a functional user manual.
• Handle high volumes of applications in order to adhere to predetermined turnaround time guidelines.
• Work together with Sales Coordinators and Business Development Managers to facilitate the maximization of sales without jeopardizing credit quality.
• Perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • College diploma or University degree in Business or finance preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of previous inventory finance/retail credit experience in a small/mid ticket agricultural credit environment.
• Working knowledge of financial statements and solid skills in basic financial analysis.
• Excellent writing, speaking, listening skills required in English.
• Mathematics aptitude.
• Working knowledge of the Farm Debt Review Board and the Personal Property Security Act.
• General knowledge of the agricultural industry and various farming operations.
• Excellent Organizational skills.
• Ability to handle time deadlines and pressure situations in a calm manner.
• Strong Computer skills with previous experience in:
   - Analyzing Equifax, Dun & Bradstreet and other credit reports
   - MS Word, Excel
   - Infolease (not required but would be beneficial)
