GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Offer, the Director of Credit will manage the day-to-day operations of the credit department including 2 managers and 5 credit officers.
The Key Responsibilities include:
- That the credit department is meeting the predetermined turnaround time and approval targets/guidelines for applications and vendor approvals.
- That the credit department is acting in accordance with the companys policy in an effort to minimize credit losses.
- Meeting all reporting time lines and requirements.
- The credit team is continually developing new skills and moving to the next level.
- That process controls and key project initiatives (e.g. Basel II, automated credit scoring, Internal Control Procedures, Operational Risk Management, SOX, Business Continuity Plan, etc
) that may involve ownership/participation from the credit team, are implemented/adhered to within acceptable timelines.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION
This position will be responsible for ensuring that the credit department meets all of the required service levels and follows all policies and procedures to limit the overall risk to the company. This will include monitoring the portfolio and credit officer performance levels and reporting to management. The position is also responsible for the development of the credit team.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Manage and develop direct reports
2. Assess and analyze required business reports
3. Review of portfolio, project management and, credit officer performance
4. Prepare/maintain required business reports in Excel spreadsheets.
5. Communication meetings with management on day-to-day concerns; CCC; Directors Group; Customers (internal/external).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Post secondary education: College diploma/University degree in Business or finance preferred
- Minimum 10 years of credit experience; 5 years experience in leasing (Retail & Wholesale) and management experience
- Working knowledge of financial statements and solid skills in basic financial analysis.
- Excellent writing, speaking, listening skills required in English
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to meet and manage deadlines and pressure situations
- Strong Computer skills with previous experience in:
Analyzing Equifax, Dun & Bradstreet and other credit reports
MS Word, Excel
Infolease (not required but would be beneficial)
MFA
